Currently Chairman of the Muslim Council for Religious and Racial harmony UK and a member of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB). He opposes all forms of discrimination and oppression. A pre-eminent Muslim scholar, thinker, speaker and educator, his ideas are some of the most advanced in the Muslim search for a meaningful interpretation of Islam in the 21st Century. A member of the IMAMS and Mosques Council of UK, he is Vice-Chair of the UK Chapter of the World Conference of Religion and Peace (WCRP), an International Secretary to the Executive Committee member of the World Congress of Faiths (WCF). A founding member of the Standing Conference of Jews, Christian and Muslims in Europe (JCM), he is consultant to many statutory and voluntary agencies on race, multicultural and religious issues. He has been in UK since 1972 and lives in Hove with his wife, Jamila. They have 5 children, 3 daughters and 2 sons. The two eldest daughters both are married, one in Toronto, Canada, and the other in Singapore. He acts as Muslim Chaplain at Brighton’s two Universities and at the County Hospitals. He has been called an expert witness to various cases in British Courts related to Islam and Muslims and he has been a magistrate at Sussex Bench 1990- Feb 2004. I have been the founder Chairman of Brighton and Hove Interfaith Contact group (IFCG) and founder of the Ethnic Minorities of Representatives Council (EMRC). With Her Majesty the Queen: In December, Imam Sajid along with his daughter Zahrah, were invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty the Queen and had the honour of a conversation with the Queen. During Queen Elizabeth's Christmas Broadcast Dec 2004, Imam Abduljalil Sajid was pictured talking with the Queen about the growth of interfaith activity in Britain.
